May Day for Medicare March
May 1st is a day chosen by workers to acknowledge the struggles and celebrate the gains workers have made throughout history. Each year, workers around the world take to the streets to let the bosses, corporations and governments know that we will continue to fight!
In this spirit, this year’s May Day March will provide a forum for the public disapproval and opposition to the Alberta Government’s plan for “third way” health care reforms. The March and rally will include gigantic pieces of artistic resistance, outrageous interactive street theatre, and entertainment by Maria Dunn, Terry Morrison, the TrinCan Orchestra, and Notre Dame des Bananes. The March will be followed by the Labour, Arts and Youth Street Jam at the Bandshell on the south side of the legislative grounds. This year, we hope people will take to the streets to say “No way to Third Way!”
Date: Monday, May 1
Location/Time: Gather at 5:30 pm at Sir Winston Churchill Square (across from City
Hall, 1 Sir Winston Churhill Square), march to Legislature at 6 pm
