Workhorse Spoken Word Project
Boonaa Mohammed, Truth Is, Pip Skidand Emcee Eare four emerging and award winning poets who’ve got something to say! Truth Is is an avid guerrilla poet taking poetry from street to street. Boonaa Mohammed has won numerous poetry slams around Toronto and was crowned the 2007 CBC Poetry Face-Off’s ‘Best New Artist’. Hailing from Winnipeg, Pip Skid’s brutally honest, blue-collar anthems have been embraced by the thousands of listeners who feel just like him, but have never had a voice to represent them until now. From Edmonton, Ian Nana Yaw Adu Budu Keteku, a.k.a Emcee E, is a man of many names and coincidentally many ambitions: musician, freestyler, grad student and possible future Prime Minster of Canada! Performing original poems, come out to hear these dynamic poets for what promises to be some of the most enthralling performances of the festival!
Produced with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Mayworks Winnipeg and Mayworks Toronto.
